Dogs ears began with Melanie Blackburn, who with her mother owns Anne's Country Club for Pets. When Melanie found out her son, Joseph, was hard-of-hearing, she and Anne decided their two loves (love of dogs and love of Joseph) could combine.
Melanie went to Massachusetts for an internship under a man who had trained hearing-ear dogs for 15 years and returned to Oklahoma to begin Dog Ears in 1988. |
